Pretzel Jug: Week 2

We Drove to Chicago

We made it to Chicago yesterday!

But before we talk about that, let’s talk about this…

The look on Chip’s face was due to the SAGANAKI!

The sag-a-what-now?!  Saganaki is a Greek dish, and is basically a big piece of fried cheese.   It is delicious, gooey, hot cheese on the inside, lightly fried and crispy-crunchy-AMAZING on the outside.  Our waitress at Dmitri’s (a Greek/American diner in Columbus, Indiana) brought this platter over, lit the cheese on fire with a Bic and squeezed lemon juice all over it.  As you can tell from Chip’s facial expressions, it was INSANE.

And now…

Chicago!

We wandered over to “The Bean,” a giant bubble sculpture that reflects your reflection and the city scape back at you.

That’s our reflections!

Then we checked out this bizarre hologram wall of native Chicagoans.  You see their faces, and then…

They spit water on you!

On the opposite side is just a water wall 🙂

We’re staying at Illinois State Beach Park.  It’s right on Lake Michigan and it looks like we’re actually at the beach, not a lake.  So nice.

We have an interview with Zach Kaplan of www.inventables.com tomorrow in the city, and on Friday night we’re going to Lebowski fest!  Hopefully tomorrow will bring some deep dish pizza into my life…

Indiana, Take 2

We camped out in Nashville, Indiana last night in Brown County State Park.

It rained.  ALL NIGHT.  And this morning.  We woke up and the people next to our tent had packed up and left!

We decided to take a little trip to Bloomington today where IU is and this…

Yup, today we visited a Tibetan monastery in India…NA* (*that was CHIP’S joke haha)

There is a large Tibetan population in Indiana and the Gaden Khachoeshgin is a monastery and cultural center.

We went to the front, but accidentally interuppted a yoga class.  We just wandered around since we couldn’t go inside.

Columbus, Indiana

Wait, wasn’t I already in Columbus?

True, but I must say I like Columbus, Indiana much better then Columbus, Ohio.  A two hour drive in the rain, overlooking fields of…corn.

But then, this cute town!  Ignore the bad photography focus on that diner.   Almost all of the food in this place was under $3.99 and there were two waitresses who knew everyone’s name.  I felt like I was in a movie…Alexis Eats America perhaps.

We’re sitting in Starbucks now trying to line up interviews, editing video footage and trying to find a place to WWOOF at.

Louisville, Kentucky: Part 2

We spent last night watching Alex Reymundo perfom at the Comedy Caravan.  He gave us free tickets.  Thanks Alex!

Those bad boys were only $3 each!

This morning we had to leave Louisville to get to our next exciting destination!  But, first, did I mention our KOA had a pool and a hot tub?

This was worth $36 a night.

After our dip in the tub we were off…to Indiana!
